Kraft talks Brady on Stern
During an appearance on "The Howard Stern" show this morning on SIRIUS Satellite Radio, Patriots chairman/CEO Robert Kraft touched on the quarterback's progress in his rehabilitation from a torn ACL and MCL in his left knee.
Kraft, who said he is a listener of Stern's show, said Brady is "doing very well," but didn't go into specifics.
Stern's co-host, Robin Quivers, asked Kraft what was wrong with Brady.
"I don't think anything is wrong with him," Kraft said. "He tore his ACL in the first game. He's been rehabbing. He rehabs between the East Coast and the West Coast. Our people, our trainers have worked with him. He's doing very well."
Stern asked (somewhat facetiously) if Brady would be replaced if he didn't play well in the first three or four games of the 2009 season. Kraft said no.
"He is your guy?" Kraft was then asked.
"He's our guy," said Kraft.
Much of the beginning of the interview was Stern trying to engage Kraft in talk about how Brady's relationship with Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen could be having a negative effect on the QB's career.
A topic Kraft dismissed.
"I've learned in life it's hard for anyone to make a judgement on what's right for somebody else," the Patriots owner replied. "He's such a high-quality guy. He knows what's right for him. We're so lucky to have him in the Patriots organization."

We're so lucky to have a sensible guy like Kraft running the show. I haven't figured out why people are worried about Brady having a girlfriend. It seems pretty normal to me. For anyone who disagrees with me, please read Kraft's quote, it is spot on.
Robert Kraft is such a classy guy and Howard Stern is such an idiotic no-talent jerk that it's hard to imagine Kraft on his show. It's no surprise the Mr. Kraft took the high road.
There is no chance Kraft listens to Howard Stern. None.
I wonder if Mr. Kraft sings along with all the song parodies they do before Robin's news...(j/k) The Kraft family has been a Godsend for this organization.
Kraft is a Stern fan. So much so that he had Artie Lange and Stern's producer Gary Del Abate flown out to attend Jonathan's surprise birthday party.
Kraft is a huge Stern fan and so is BB. Stern wasn't being disrespectful so stop being such a puritan. It says a lot about a man who is a billionaire and still has a great sense of humor and listends to Howard. Great interview, it's a shame some of you are too narrow minded to listen.
If Kraft listens to Stern my respect for him just went down 9 points on a scale of 1-10.
Blue kool aid...you nailed it. Good post.
Blue Kool Aid: I HAVE listened to Howard Stern many time, which is why I think he's an idiotic no-talent jerk. But I laughed out loud that you called me "narrow minded" while jumping to the incorrect conclusion that I'd never listened to Howard Stern.....it just seemed so Howard-like to call me names based on no information and something that wasn't true.
blue kool aid - Howard Stern just isn't funny. That's all there is to it. He is low brow entertainment that essentially revolves around how contraversial he can be on a national scale. I just personally do not see Bob Kraft waking up in the morning and putting on Howard Stern.
Hi Mike - I think there should be some Kraft interview clips available on sirius.com in the next day or so. I'll forward anything relevant back your way if I see something good. I heard the last part of the interview on replay yesterday and what I heard was great radio. Kraft loves Howard because he GETS the show. Some people don't get the show and that's fine because there's a lot of good "commercial laced" programming on terrestrial radio ... I think? Can't wait to check out the interview in its entirety on Howard TV. I thought hearing two icons appreciate each other on the air was kinda neat.
The King of All Sports Owners & The King of All Media = nice combo!
Personally, I blame Giselle for Brady's knee injury. After all, she didn't pick up the block on Pollard, or have the good sense to keep Bernie down until the play was done. The Patriots clearly need to cut Bundchen. Totally not worth the cap hit.
/If Stern and others are going to be ridiculous, then get a response in kind.
Why in the world is a great owner like Bob Kraft lowering himself into the gutter with Stern??? Over the years I have had great respect for the Pats operation, especially with other owners who don't really see to care about the fan. (I now live in the Washington, DC area — enough said.) I hope someone will fill Kraft in that he has made a mistake. A reputation can take years to build, and minutes to tarnish.
What's with the haters?
# SIRIUS subscribers before Howard made announcement that he was coming to satellite (early 2005) = ~750,000
January 9, 2006 = Stern Revolution begins @ SIRIUS
# SIRIUS subscribers today (Feb, 2009) = ~10,000,000
If you think Bob Kraft secretly doesn't like the show, you're clearly imagining things. Read the comment above about the surprise party Kraft threw for his son. Having Artie and BaBaBooie over his house is a pretty good indication that the Krafts are fans of the show. I don't know, am I missing something here?
Well i Think it is fair to Say one thing based on This Question that was asked of Kraft. Stern asked (somewhat facetiously) if Brady would be replaced if he didn't play well in the first three or four games of the 2009 season.
Kraft said no.
"He is your guy?" Kraft was then asked.
"He's our guy," said Kraft.
That being BRADY IS NOT GOING TO BE TRADED!
Let that be the end of that nonsense!
why are some "losing" respect for Kraft because he listens to a radio show. Anything you watch, read, or listen to is personal preference. I don't calling all IMUS listeners idiots, or anyone that watches LOST losers, or people that watch o'rielly looney bins...
Who cares what people like to watch, listen to, or read.
how can you judge a person by what radio shows they listen to....you think because kraft is rich and says the right things he doesnt let loose and listen to stern? get real
BurkeilnBoston,
I'm pretty sure Mr. Stern had very little to do with the number of people who subscribe to Sirius. How many of those 10,000,000 were XM customers? How many of them listen to Stern? While I don't have the ratings in front of me, I believe Stern isn't even one of the top 10 talk radio programs in the U.S. I'd be surprised if Stern has even 750,000 listeners.
And I, too, am surprised Kraft went on that program.
really ritchie?
do you live in a hole.
those 10,000,00 don't include xm's 9,000,000.
and howard is sirius' #1 draw by far.
when he was on terestrial radio he was on in 46 markets most of which he was #1 in.
this is not bob krafts 1st appearance on the show.
so whats the big deal?
OK, I don't have Sirius...I used to have XM.
But according to Arbitron, the company that does radio ratings, not only is Howard Stern not in the Top 20 for talk radio programs, he has less than 1,000,000 listerners nationally...and his ratings have been falling over the last two years. I guess his popularity has dropped quite a bit.
BurkeilnBoston tried to say that Stern was a big reason for Sirius' success, yet less than 1/10th of those who subscribe to Sirius listen to Stern. My first point was that Stern had little to do with the 10,000,000 people he claims subscribe to Sirius (and nothing to do with the 9,000,000 that "John Hannah" claims listen's to XM).
My second point, as Bruce put it, is that Stern is an idiotic, no-talent jerk. And I'm surprised that someone of the Kraft's stature would not only listen to Stern, but would be a guest on his show.
What's the big deal? Not Howard Stern's failing show, that's for sure! If Mr. Kraft wants to be a guest on that show, it's his choice. But why not Jim Rome or Mike and Mike? That seems more appropriate. But, like I said, that was his choice.
Oh, and I do not live in a hole.
Both Kraft and BB are big Stern fans
The rest of you sound like super christian soccer moms
Ritchie: Jim Rome is an idiotic, no-talent jerk.
Here is where it gets fun, how can you prove Howard Stern is an idiotic, no talent jerk AND how can I prove Jim Rome is an Idiotic, no-talent jerk.
It isn't possible, its all in the eye of the beholder.
Richie you do live in a hole and it is people like you who make Ryan Seacrest famous. Jim Rome! Are you kidding me. Jim Rome and Mike and Mike are more popular? How many listeners would pay 1 dollar to listen to any of those guys? You are comparing free radio to paid subscribers, apples to oranges. Your numbers for Stern are very low, do you realize that people listen to himall day on 2 channels? The ratings you cite are flawed. It was a great interview that had nothing to do with strippers. I know that must shock you. How was Jim Rome today and Mike and Mike. What's A-Roid doing, Barry Bonds and all that other boring content. Kraft said he feels anyone who doesn't like Stern should root for the Colts instead b/c they are obviously tight wads!
I watched the full interview last night on Howard TV and it was as good as advertised. I thought it was interesting how Kraft drew the analogy of team building and sustaining success for both franchises: his own with the Pats and Howard's T.E.A.M. at SIRIUS. In both cases, he said the critical component is having "good people" working for both organizations. He also said he only listens to SIRIUS and he listens to only 2 channels: Howard 100 and NFL 124.
I don't listen to Jim Rome or Mike and Mike, but they are both sports talk shows and that was my point. It should also be noted that according to Arbitron, the company that does radio ratings, both have more listeners right now than Stern.
You could argue that Stern is not an idiotic, no-talent jerk (although I'm not sure that's an arguement you could win), but Stern has the most classless talk radio program ever (just ask the FCC) and that's something you can't argue against.
If any of the Kraft family wants to be on his show, go ahead, it's on them. But it's like giving pearls to swine.
I don' t and won't hear Stearns shows. But anybody that goes to a show for a interview doesn't mean he is or acts like the one that is doing the interview.I know Robert Kraft an family and it's a heck of a blessing that he is in Boston.Great family man and somebody with loves what he is doing.Great character.Would watch or hear Mr.Kraft on any radio or T.v. station that he would be in.
That made no sense at all.
Ritchie: Are you really going to argue that the FCC should judge what is classy and what is classless. If so, then you should be ok with what the what the USDA has done regarding the peanut butter plant salmonella scare or what the SEC has done regarding the Madoff scam. FCC, SEC, and FDA all government organizations doing a fantastic job.
Let's leave it at this...You don't like Howard Stern, Mr. Kraft does...we wont judge you if you dont judge him.
I listen to Stern as a paid subscriber. Some of the viewpoints conveyed on the show disgust me. But what I do enjoy is his open & honest interviews and him giving his OPINION about any subject right or wrong. It would be unfair of me to call him a no-talent jerk if I don't agree with everything he says, because I like the free speech aspect of sattelite radio. Did you ever try to listen to WEEI on your morning/afternoon commute??? Downright painful. You would never hear Ordway or J. Dennis ask Kraft about Giselle, Brady's rehab choices etc. Much more respect for Stern,
