Woods: 2nd round tender
The Patriots tendered restricted free agent OLB Pierre Woods at the second-round level today. The one-year tender for Woods is for $1.54 million.
This was the expected tender for Woods. Had the Patriots given Woods the low tender, they would have risked losing him without receiving compensation.
Now, if a team signs Woods to an offer sheet and the Patriots don't match, the Patriots would receive a second-round draft choice.
The Patriots did not submit a tender offer on OL Wesley Britt, another restricted free agent. Britt could potentially stick with the team with a reduced contract.

I kind of expected this. Once Levoir found himself ahead of Britt in the tackle rotation, Britt lost a lot of value with the team. Is Woods contract guaranteed if he signs the tender?
Yes to the question about the tender signing. Its a good thing because Denver is where he was headed...All the Patriots have an opening in either Denver or KC.This is the down side of the Patriot FO personnel and coaches moving up to HC's every player we leave availible winds up with one of those teams that have familiarity with these guys...
Who cares? Another player that makes minimal mistakes, zero big plays. Get these garbage players out of here.
i like woods. he's pretty big with some decent speed. i say keep him
This is a good deal for the Patriots, because I think Woods has potential, but the same would be true of a second round draft pick. $1.54 is a low salary cap number for somebody who might not be a first choice as a starter, but can start if called on to do so. Plus, I think he'll be out for payback against the steelers and I hope he gets it..
