Al Johnson scheduled to visit Patriots
The Patriots are scheduled to host free-agent center Al Johnson on a visit Friday, according to Kent Somers of the Arizona Republic.
Johnson, who appeared in four games for the Dolphins in 2008 (no starts), was last a starter with the Arizona Cardinals in 2007. Johnson was a high-priority free-agent signing for Arizona prior to the 2007 season, but his time with the Cardinals was cut short by a knee injury.
Johnson (6-5, 305) spent the first four years of his career with the Dallas Cowboys.

Strange move. Hochstein is usually the backup right? Maybe he plays G or can LS....
fooze, bringing in a player isn't the same as signing them. BB brings in a lot of players to keep a list if/when the inevitable injury hits the team.
I was hoping for something more along the lines of "Patriots to visit with ....Marvin Harrison or Terrell Owens or Jason Taylor or Julius Peppers" or any impact player of that sort.
Mike any chance the Pats make a run at TO? In the past they have taken players with "prolems", but that usually was with losing. This guy has had a problem everywhere he has gone. If they got him cheap for like a 1 or 2 year deal any chance? It sounds kind of scary: Moss, TO, and Welker....
Thank god. I was worried about the 3rd center spot for years now. It's good to see them investigating possible replacements incase Koppen goes down, Hochstein can't step in, they don't draft anybody, and they can't find a guy who can pass a football between his legs in the mid-season free agent market. This is the potential big move we've all been waiting for.
Joe,
This is not Madden 2009. They are not going to sign TO or Peppers. Not going to happen. They need to spread out their spending and fill a bunch of holes. You can't do that giving Peppers a huge contract.
Rob in Central MA - I want to party with you man!! LMAO!
Mike, level with us, the Pats ain't signing any big name free agents. Fred Taylor will be the biggest free agent signing this offseason. BB is gonna keep low balling and looking for JAGs he thinks he can afford and develop. That and a big draft and he's got his horses for the upcoming season. No Peppers, no Harrison, its gonna be the Sammy Knights and the Al Johnsons and the rookies in training camp this year.
I can't believe anyone even joe would want TO on the pats. That is nuts, I would rather see them bring back Johnson.
Why is everyone talking about Marvin Harrison? Didn't anybody watch last season? That guy is so past his prime. And Owens? Seriously people, this guy has been a cancer and literally ruined 3 other teams' seasons. Why on earth would you want to add him? Where do people come up with this stuff?
TO should switch to basketball and sign with the Knicks!
I know people think i'm crazy for saying it but I think T.O. could work here...think about it, when have they ever brought in a so called "bad character guy" and it not work out. I could see Belichick telling him he is on the shortest leash possible and 1 bad comment or gesture and he's back on the street. You really don't think Tom Brady could control him? Owens biggest problems come when his team starts doing poorly and last I checked we haven;t had a losing season in a decade.
