Belichick attends UConn Pro Day
Patriots coach Bill Belichick is not attending the NFL league meetings this week in Dana Point, Calif. Belichick is instead focusing on draft preparations as he is taking his annual college scouting tour.
Today, Belichick attended UConn’s Pro Day in Storrs, Conn. Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio was also in attendance along with Belichick and other Patriots staffers.
Desmond Conner of the Hartford Courant blogs from the Pro Day, focusing on Belichick's involvement in drills.

Woohoo! Go Huskies!!
This makes me extremely happy, because I believe UConn's draft class is one of this year's best. William Beatty is my third rated tackle, Darius Butler my top rated cornerback, Donald Brown my second rated running back and Cody Brown my sixth rated OLB/DE prospect. I'd be extremely happy to see the Patriots snag one of these guys, especially Beatty or Butler. Bill knows where the talent is.
Richter, I agree totally!! Beatty, Butler and Brown are all going to be players in this league for yrs to come. I like Beatty but rather Unger if available at the same time when we pick. Butler reminds me(dont kill me guys) Asante Samuel, lean athlethic body. He has the best C.O.D. agility of any CB in the draft. Brown is the most complete of the RBs in this class in my opinion. He reminds me alot of a former Patriot, wait for it , Curtis Martin! Jack of all trades master of none. Will admit i have not heard much about him but I'll look him up.
BB is nobody's fool ! He knows that the best thing he can do too make the Patriots a better team is to go out and personally look at the potential players and U-Conn has 4 very good ones.I have Beatty rated very high as a LT, Butler is my 2nd rated CB just a smidge behind Sean Smith,I didn't rank Donald Brown because he will be gone before the Patriots pick in the 3rd round, which is where they would take him if available.
Richter,
I emailed Bill your thoughts and he already stopped looking for other talent. He sends his thanks ;) JK... I do think Uconn has some talent
Donald Brown will be gone by the 2nd round. He also had UConn's QB Tyler Lorenzen workout with the DB's.
That is i havent heard much about the other Brown DE/LB
You amateur draft gurus kinda' creep me out a little, but thanks for the insights.
UMass. The Patriots should change their name to the Boston Patriots. They play in Massachusetts. They (the employees)pay Massachusetts income taxes. The players alone pay over $6 million in state income taxes. The employees(including the Kraft family) pay over $7 million in state income taxes.
Kraft has a net worth of well over $1 BILLION. UMass/Amherst should be the first choice of the Pat's. Belichick and the Kraft family should make UMass the place to be outside of Foxboro. Have the Summer camp at UMass.
I WOULD LOVE 2 SEE DARIUS BUTLER IN A PATS UNIFORM, BODDEN,BUTLER,SPRINGS,WHEATLEY,WILHITE!!!!! GOOD BYE ELLIS HOBBS!!!
Bill,
Not all the fans are from Massachusetts. We have quite a few season ticet holders in CT. The 2nd highest amount is in Rhode Island. There are lots of fans that travel from New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine. I have buddies that travel from New Brunswick, Canada. Why would they work out at UMASS when they have a beautiful facility right at Foxboro??
Bill???? Why? They have great facilities at Gillette and live at the Mariott or some other luxury hotel. This is not Life on Mars where professional teams practice at colleges and live in dorms.
The fact that they pay according to you $6 million in state income taxes shows that they have filled their financial responsibility. The State of Massachusetts probably makes more money with the team practicing in Foxboro instead of being at UMass.
Wake up its 2009!
There's Mike Allen hating on Hobbs again. Get over yourself NEM.
Well Hobbs does blow. The most annoying pat in many years. He thinks he's an all pro db and just comes across as a jerk.
I'm afraid after yesterdays pro day that Butler may be long, even at 23.
Here comes Donald Brown, and Butler. It may be premature to draft a RB while we're giving Maroney a second chance, and Fred Taylor is now a Patriot, but if hes on the board while we're picking, we really should pick him up. Morris, Faulk and Taylor are all over 30, and Maroney plays like hes a 12 year old girl, dancing around the line of scrimmage to avoid getting hit. Bring him in, groom him, use him sparingly this year and when all those 30 year olds hit that wall, and Maroney is (more then likely) gone, then we got our RB of the future, which we may need to lean on as Tom gets older and we cant leave him exposed by throwing every down.. Butler wil add depth, can learn from Springs, and hopefully fight for a starting job in a year or 2. I got high hopes for Bodden too, turn his career around in New England like so many players have before.
