Former Patriots receiver Troy Brown made an emotional decision to retire from football last season. Since that time, he's enjoyed extended time with his family.

Brown, according to the Register-Herald, is living in Huntington, West Va. He still travels back to Boston as part of his television analyst duties for Comcast SportsNet, and if he's not traveling, Brown is usually with his kids. Because of that, his transition into retirement hasn't had him longing for football.

"They take up a lot of my time," Brown told the Register-Herald. "I haven't had too much time to think about it."

  1. One of the classiest, if not classiest Patriots or NFL players ever. Everything good that happens to Troy Brown is well deserved. A true role model for anyone.

  1. Let's not forget what an amazing football player Troy was. I hope that doesn't get lost amid all the praise for his wonderful character. This guy made some huge plays in his career and was a major factor in our 3 Super Bowl titles and many other huge games!

  1. Gee.

Wouldn't it be nice if the Patriots could find a paid position for Troy, maybe in the scouting department? He knows the kind of men the PATS want! Good luck to you Troy. I still smile when I remember that bingo commercial!!

  1. Its fitting that a small piece is run on Troy Brown, one of the classiest players the NFL could have. And on the same site, another article on Terell Owens, one of the most selfish atheletes on the planet. These two could not more opposite. Its funny he chose Buffalo, clearly there is not much demand for his mouth..er...I mean services anymore. I cant wait to see him shivering on the sidelines on a cold January day while Buffalo is losing another meaningless game to an AFC East team.
Troy Brown is every GM's dream while TO is the model to all rookies on how NOT to behave.

  1. Troy Brown will probably never be seen as a superstar but he was an exceedingly SMART player who always seemed to be one step ahead of the opposition. So many times, he made big plays in key situations. Blocking a kick in the AFC Championship game against the Steelers, making the big catch to set up the winning kick against the Rams, and his best play of all was probably stripping the ball against the Chargers and keeping the Pats in that game. And, oh yeah, one year he learned how to play DB and had 3 picks. One of the key guys from the Pats dynasty. Always wish him the best.

  1. I got to meet Troy Brown when the Patriots came to D.C. after winning their third Super Bowl. He is an extremely generous and humble person. He actually is even nicer in person than what you read!

  1. Thanks, Lance, nicely put.

Gino Cappelletti, John Hannah, Steve Grogan, Steve Nelson, Andre Tippett, Troy Brown, Ted Bruschi, TB. Sure, there are others in the Pats pantheon, but the point is Troy Brown will forever be included in any discussion of the all-time great Patriots - on and off the field.

  1. Ironic how we haven't won a Superbowl since we let him retire. If he was still on the team, we would have won back to back Championships. Please BOYCOTT FOXBORO STADIUM until they bring Troy Brown back! We can't win without him!

  1. I'll add another great Troy Brown moment to the list. How about during the 1995 season when the Pats were playing the Giants on the final week to get a first round bye? During an incredible comeback, while on his back, Troy somehow caught a Bledsoe pass on 3rd or 4th down on the final drive which eventually led to the victory. Thanks for the memories.

  1. TROY BROWN IS AN INSPIRATION TO ALL OF US NEW ENGLAND FANS ,TO JUST DO THE BEST YOU CAN & TREAT OTHERS WITH THE RESPECT YOU WOULD HOPE TO RECIEVE. I THINK HE IS ACTUALLY THE BEST PLAYER CURRENTLY RETIRING OR RETIRED PERIOD... TO BE A ROLE MODEL FOR ALL FUTURE GENERATIONS OF PATRIOT PLAYERS ,NFL PLAYERS & FANS ACROSS THE COUNTRY. HE NEVER WHINED OR CRIED OR TOOK TANTRUMS OR COMPLAINED ABOUT THE LEAGUE OR CALLS MADE BY OFFICIALS,CAUSED LOCKER ROOM PROBLEMS OR HAD A MOUTH.......I SHOULD NOT EVEN HAVE TO SAY ANY OF THIS, ITS OBVIOUS !!!

HE CAME TO PLAY FOOTBALL ,THE GAME HE LOVES & HAS BEEN REWARDED BY THE GODS OF PRAISE AND YES......WITH 3 SUPERBOWL RINGS.....COUNT 'EM.....THREE !! AND NOBODY I CAN THINK OF DESERVES HAPPINESS MORE THAN TROY BROWN & ALL HIS FAMILY AS I AM SURE THEY ARE VERY PROUD OF HIM AS WELL !

IN ANY & ALL NEW 21ST CENTURY VERSIONS OF THE NFL & SPORT ALMANACS.......NEXT TO THE WORD PATRIOT, SHOULD BE A PIC OF TROY BROWN, DOING WHAT HE DOES BEST ..........EVERYTHING ON A FOOTBALL GRIDIRON !!

WE LOVE 'EM AND WILL MISS HIM DEARLY, A TRUE PATRIOT IN EVERY SENSE
    .....................................TROY BROWN !!!
    THANK YOU, MITCH

  1. I had the pleasure of playing on a state champonship team with troy in high school. I remember seeing him having to turn around and run full speed to catch a punt, turned around and went about 60 yards. I've followed his career closely with the pats, and it's great to see how humble his is and remembered as one of the best. Much Respect!
