Pryor the pick at 207

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff April 26, 2009 05:26 PM

The Patriots selected Kentucky defensive lineman Myron Pryor in the sixth round, with the 207th overall selection in the draft.

Pryor (6-0, 319) projects as a nose tackle in the Patriots' 3-4 defense.

The team drafted another nose tackle in the second round, Boston College's Ron Brace (40th overall).

Entering the draft, the Patriots had five of their eight defensive linemen entering the final year of their contracts. Brace and Pryor add younger players to the pipeline.

  1. He's very quick, strong, low to the ground. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have an impact on third down as a potential replacement for Green in a year or so.

  1. The Pats are covering the bases, clearing cap space and sending picks into next year. That is why they are so good. Now let's use the money to lock up Wilfork. Yea, BABY.
