The Patriots selected Houston offensive lineman Sebastian Vollmer of Houston with the 58th overall pick.
Analysis of this pick to come.
We need a LB stat. This kid is a few years away. I don't understand whats going on right now...
LOVE this pick!!! A developmental MONSTER to protect Brady, and the sooner he's up to speed and we can bounce Light all the way over, we will have Pass Protection to take on ANYONE!!!
With Jarron Gilbert still left on the board?!
Oh well, in Bill we trust!
DE ~ Yes! OLB! ~ Michael Johnson is still available!!!
WOW...just WOW. This might just be worse than the '07 draft, if that's possible.
What a joke. Honestly, they don't know what they are doing. No one can defend this pick.
You can check out some video of me at dratfguys.com
BB - with 4 2nd round picks, we roll the dice on this guy. He needs work, but could be one of the b etter OT's in this draft
Michael Johnson, developed by the right team, as he matures and grows into his monstrous frame...could be TERRIFYING!
My GOD, I'd love to get him.
If we could somehow manage to pull in him, as an Heffalump, and ILB Jason Phillips of TCU...and even a 3rd OLB in the later 3rd round, or later, a project, like Johnson...that would be SO SCHWEET!!!
It's HILARIOUS to read folks thinking they know better than Coach Bill!
And it's HILARIOUS to listen to Mayock describe this pick as a "stretch"!!! Just because he doesn't see Vollmer the same way! What an A HOLE!
Hey, Coach Bill's made some calls that didn't work out, but this is at BEST a crap shoot...I'll take HIS analysis of a player's value against ANYONE, thank you!!! :o)
guys guys guys don't worry just repeat after me IN BILL WE TRUST!!!!
I don't get this one. With 4 3rd rounders, he still would have been there. Heck he may have been there in the 5th round. Why reach with more sure things on the board. Sure the dude is big, but....
How long can we go with In Bill we trust??? It's been 4 years since we won it all and he was also outcoached the last Superbowl we were in. Maybe it's blasphemy but is he losing his touch? This draft is a C+ at best so far. Why couldn't we have gotten a first rounder next year instead of some of the "projects" we selected. Atleast they got Butler. Maybe it should have been in Scott we trust?
The reality is, as lucky as we are to have BB running the show, his drafting track record has been pretty weak over the last 4-5 years. Of course he knows better than any fan or any individual "draft expert", there has been a pretty disturbing trend of these picks coming completely out of left field. When they had all that success earlier in the decade, most of the guys they got were well known and drafted in line with expectations. They need to start developing some young talent and they have pissed away way too many picks in the last few years. I know most teams would kill to be in a position to have to restock a dynasty - I just fear they are letting a great opportunity slip away
Tony you are a freakn idiot!! The 07 draftttttt brought us Welker and Moss!!!!!!!! yeah they really blew that one Einstein!
JT, Walker and Moss were acquired via draft trades, not picks, Einstein.

Guys, projecting how a player will fit into an NFL team from college is DIFFICULT. Bill isn't a better drafter because all of his picks work out; he only has a slightly higher success rate than other personnel departments. But the sum of that slight edge with all the many other slight edges Belichick gives this team is what has led to the consistent success the patriots have enjoyed lately.
So show your respect and appreciate the man's work.
