  1. The true value in the draft is between the very end of round one through the middle part of round three, so I was joyed that they traded themselves out of the first round.

  1. Personally, I think "B" is correct as of right now. They added some much-needed size on both offensive and defensive lines, as well as some great secondary talent to aid the weakest part of our game last season.

But it all changes once they step onto the field. Plus, there are many steals to be had in the next couple of rounds. Go Pats!

  1. A virtuoso performance. In a draft with few stars but much depth, the Pats have 8 picks in the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Awesome!

  1. They are @ an A- with me. If they get another LB like Jasper Brinkley. Maybe 2 more. Paired with an accurate P like Huber..., maybe get the school DB Toler....interior OL help then we're set!!!! GO PATS.
    DARIUS BUTLER BABY

  1. They certainly drafted for need. Chung is a very good player that adds depth at saftey and Butler has the ability to be an excellent corner. Overall it is a good start with plenty of ammo for day 2.

  1. Unless B.B. feels good about his linebackers, I'm very surprised he left all the top ones get away. Unless he already has plans to get Peppers, he's missed the boat. Knowing B.B. we have to trust in him, but it truly was surprising.

  1. Hopefully, they will get someone who can rush the passer. If they can't get any pressure on the quarterback, it's not going to make much difference who they draft.

  1. I'm pleased that they moved to upgrade the secondary, both inside and outside. I considered that our #2 priority. I also like the addition of quality depth at NT to help Wilfork, and beef up our short yardage D. I'm disappointed that they didn't move to upgrade the outside pass rush; but history tells me to trust BB's judgement, and assume that he has a plan for said improvement from another source that he believes better for the team than what could have been taken from the Draft pool. Jason Taylor or Julius Peppers may yet be putting on a Patriots' uniform.

  1. I would liken this series of trades to the glutton who is standing in a buffet line. They already have an embarrassment of riches and yet the temptation of shoveling more on their plate can not be overcome. Unfortunately we've seen this pattern before. The only reason I did not give this draft an "F" is because of its depth. With 6 picks in the 1st three rounds N.E. could have used a 3rd and a 4th moved up 4 places and taken Pettigrew , taken Barwin with its next pick and still gotten reasonable quality at db or safety. OH well... let us hope we did not load up on bean salad at the expense of prime rib and lobster tails.

  1. Player to watch for on day II:
-P Huber good directional and placement punter.
-Michael Johnson OLB physical freak, if someone is able to motivate him to play on every down with intensity.
-Jasper Brinley ILB if not for acl injury he probably would have in the latter 1st rd or 2nd.
-DL Jarron Gilbert nice burst, good athlete.
Im taking a flyer on Rashad Jennings

  1. Kinda hard to give a grade, since we have 5 rounds to go. They're just passing the quarter pole, quick, who's going to win?

We need to see who they pick (or what future picks they obtain) with the extra picks they picked up yesterday.

  1. The verdict is still out on Brace and Vollmer. If they pan out this could be an A+ draft. Butler and Chung were solid value picks

  1. I am very dissapointed in what the Pats did! The reason they did not make the playoffs last year was defense. They're old and slow. Mike Reiss has commented many times, that they could not get off the field on 3rd down. You can not coach/scheme against speed. Take a chance BB, on a LB that can rush the passer (ie: James Harrison). There was a reason USC's defense was so good. value picks are overrated! Does it matter what round Tom Brady was picked in? If he were a #1 overall, would he not be still a great value pick? We need team speed on defense.... Who cares what round we get a player, as long as he makes a difference, helps them win.

  1. Including the trade for #34, D.

-BB gets an A for Butler but the rest of the picks in the 2nd were reaches, the OT especially is a BAD reach. We still have a huge gaping hole at OLB after giving away a solid player, and experienced, proven leader in Vrabel, one year removed from a ProBowl season. At least we didn't draft a receive in the 2nd.

The pressure is on Patrick Chung.

a At least we didn't draft a receiver in the 2nd.
