Brady's Friday night 'lights
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was on the Dennis & Callahan Show on WEEI-AM this morning. Much of what he had to say in the half-hour interview was similar to what he told the media mob in Foxborough on Thursday.
However, in some cases Brady was more interesting or expansive in his answers.
One of those cases was on the subject of wearing a brace on his surgically-repaired left knee. Brady intimated that the brace could be something he only wears for the 2009 season and not the rest of his career.
"Yeah, I mean the surgeon, Neal [ElAttrache] told me that he's comfortable with me not wearing it after a full year," said Brady. "That's when most doctors really say you wear it for, the first year, and then after the 12-month anniversary of the injury it's your choice because I guess there is not a lot of scientific evidence that points to the brace preventing injuries. I think it's more of a comfort thing for players. I'll wear it. I mean I got no problem wearing it. It's I go from slower to a little bit slower, which certainly won't affect my game very much."
Brady also touched on the loss of quarterback Matt Cassel, who took his place last season after Brady was injured in the 2008 season-opener against the Kansas City Chiefs.
"Matt has been one of my best friends here," said Brady. "We were together for four years. He's really a great guy. He's one of a kind. There is not another Matt Cassel personality on this planet. He's got a great sense of humor, and he's got so much energy. He's a great leader, and he's extremely tough and he's missed."
Brady also was asked whether he ever worried about his teammates resenting his jet-setting lifestyle off the field with his wife, supermodel Gisele Bundchen.
"I always feel the problems in life come when there is poor communication," said Brady. "As long as I feel that I come back and I'm willing to play and I'm willing to be prepared and put the work in that none of the other stuff really matters as far as I'm concerned. Those guys never mention anything to me about any of that stuff, but I never take any of it too seriously any way."
If you're bored on a Friday night and want more Brady talk, you can listen to the interview in its entirety.

Brady is my favourite player in the league, but his off field lifestyle will have a negative impact on his playing production. He was a workout/film warrior who lived breathed football all the time, now it may be his 3rd item on the agenda, nothing wrong with that but we may have already seen the best of Brady (sorry to say).
Dont you just know the O-line is going to play the year of thier live's, thinking they let Tom down. Of course we all know thats not true!!
When Steve Grogan got married and began having another life, he went downhill as a QB very quickly. Same has happened with other players in other leagues, other sports, other teams.
Will that happen to Brady? Probably not and the main reason is because the makeup of this partcular team is "win, win win, and win as a team" Grogan, for example, did not have that going for him.
You people are pathetic.
Kurt Warner and Rodney Harrison come to mind as people who "have a life" and still went out and played great football.
Nobody ever accused Babe Ruth of a sports crazed off-field lifestyle but he did OK, too.
Also, this "best of Brady" stuff has got to stop. All players have a career arc. Everyone has a "greatest year" and lesser ones. Brady WON the GD Superbowl back in 2001/2002 when he was nowhere near as good as his performance in 2007/2008. And I should add that they did NOT win it in 2007/2008 when we had the so-called "best of Brady".
If Brady stays healthy and the entire TEAM (including defense) plays well, they should win the Super Bowl again this season. If not, they won't.
Either way, deal with it.
I agree. Women are the devil, and they're all sisters. With the leaders on this team being married, or at least interested in the opposite sex we have no chance to win. I think its time we drafted only gay players at our leadership spots, and insist that they only date within the ranks of the team. This way even those romantic moments can be focused around football discussions. This is surely the way to build a championship team these days.
