Washington goes to Baltimore

Posted by Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff May 18, 2009 05:26 PM

Former Patriots wide receiver/special teams contributor Kelley Washington signed a one-year deal to join the Baltimore Ravens today.

The 29-year-old Washington, who spent the past two seasons with the Patriots and only had one reception, was released by New England on Feb. 17.

Washington participated in the Ravens' passing camp today.

  1. No WAY!!!! This guy had Jerry Rice potential; he just was never given the necessary opportunity. The Pats are never going to be the same without him. Damn that Belichick!

  1. Looks like Slater's gonna stick. He played well at the end of the year.

  1. I believe that Washington will be a major contributor now that he has crossed the Delaware.

  1. Ghalon - No but since he was a former Patriot, we are given enough info on this Mike's Blog about those players.. Izzo going to the Jets, Rudd released, Cassel and Vrabel to the Chiefs.. I think the bigger headline for this week is the Derrick Burgess report, man I am pumped on that one.. I hope it would push through.. He would definitely be an upgrade at our pass rush..

  1. This one has always been a head-scratcher...KW is a physical specimen, but never got the chance to play beyond special teams. He and Chris Aiken should have been given more snaps.
