Moss, Pony part ways

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff June 11, 2009 06:10 PM

Patriots receiver Randy Moss is making a change off the field.

Randy Moss Enterprises, through agent Tim DiPiero, released the following statement today:

“Pony and Randy have mutually agreed to terminate their license and endorsement relationship early. It has been difficult not being able to wear his signature cleat due to NFL licensing requirements, so they have decided to go in different directions. Both wish each other well.”

  1. This has pretty much ruined my day. I just bought a fresh pair of Ponys that I was going to rock with my Moss jersey to the home opener.

  1. I didn't know pony still existed. I think of Larry Holmes and boxing shoes when I hear that brand mentioned

  1. Mike,

Breaking News unrelated to the Randy Moss Story, is it true that Rich Ohrnberger has signed?

  1. JERRY: I know, I hated those kids. In fact, I hate anyone that ever wore a Pony when they were growing up.

    RANDY MOSS: ..I wore Pony.

    (The room is dead quiet)

JERRY: ..Well, I didn't really mean Pony, per se.

RANDY MOSS: (Angry) When I was a little boy in West Virginia, we all wore Pony. My sister wore Pony, my cousin wore Pony, ..So, what's wrong with that?
