Pre-vacation mailbag

Questions from Patriots fans are answered on Boston.com as part of a weekly Tuesday mailbag. This week's mailbag, which will last two weeks to cover vacation time, has been posted and includes some of the following topics:

Listing one opinion of the top five questions of the Patriots' preseason.

Based on history, is it worth paying nose tackle Vince Wilfork a mega contract?

If the Patriots could do it over again, would they select Jon Beason over Brandon Meriweather in the 2007 first round?

VACATION NOTE: With vacation scheduled through July 12, I won't be posting updates for the first two weeks of the month. The plan will be to return July 13 and gear up for an exciting preseason and 2009 regular season -- with the regular Tuesday mailbag and Thursday chats.

I dont think Brady will play in the preseason. BB likes to hold his cards and I predict he'll do the same here. Brady is a good enough player that you do not need to give him playing time to get over those pregame jitters. He'll be ready to roll week 1.

it may only be a quarter a game or maybe a couple quarters for a few games, but Brady will take pre-season snaps for sure - he needs to assure himself & the team he's completely ready with full-speed situations...camp is great, but he still needs to adjust his timing & such in the "real" world.

If he can't make it through pre-season safely, how is he supposed to build confidence in himself for games that actually matter?

Enjoy the vacation Mike...glad to see you're taking it now & planning to be back when the real reporting starts again - BTW, you've done an excellent job of keeping everyone in Patriot Nation informed/entertained during the "slow" season
