Troy and The Tradition
Boston Globe colleague Bob Ryan writes today on the annual New England "Tradition" event for the Sports Museum, which is scheduled for June 24. In his unique way, Ryan breaks down this year's honorees, one of whom is former Patriots receiver Troy Brown.
Noting that Brown will be presented by Bill Belichick at the event, Ryan writes:
"I'm upfront about this. Troy Brown is my all-time favorite Patriot. Tell me something not to like. He could catch passes, return punts, return kickoffs, play a more than acceptable role in the defensive secondary, and I'm sure he would have parked cars if someone had asked."
Those interested in attending the event can do so by purchasing tickets on the museum's website.

Troy Brown is the definition of a New England Patriot.
Forever and Always my favorite player!
I wish I was living in the area. I would definitely attend. Troy was special.
Bingo! I win again!
They don't make too many like Troy Brown. The organization and the whole region was lucky to have him. Now if they could only bring him back as a coach...of course, can you coach heart?
My favorite as well. I Actually did a power point presentation on him for school.
"He could catch passes, return punts, return kickoffs, play a more than acceptable role in the defensive secondary"
So true, but even more impressive was Troy consistently executed those skils in the clutch. Talk about a performer who rose to the occasion.
My favorite Troy Brown moment was his blocked FG recover and lateral for touchdown in the AFC championship game 01/02 vs. Pittsburg. I never grow tired of Gil's call of that "cancel those reservations" back-breaking play.
Trivia question: who blocked that kick for the Pats?

My favorite was....well, I can't remember the game, but all I can remember is Troy Brown slipping on the field, falling down, lying on his back and the ball is just sailing over him, and he stabs his hands up in the air and catches it while lying flat on his back. Perfect.
Best Troy Brown moment was when he came full circle and intercepted Drew Bledsoe while playing CB.
I'd say my favorite Troy moments were the strip of the Charger's interception in the playoffs a few years ago and his interception of a Drew Bledsoe pass when we were playing the Bills and he was out there in the secondary.
Gil Santos "Good things happen when Troy Brown touches the ball." It was always true for the consummate Patriot. My all time favorite player.
Hey Rob, Ryan says the flat-on-his-back-catch was with Bledsoe, I assume against the J-E-T-S (Meadowlands).
Classless - I recall the Glove had a great shot of Brown with the football with that big smile and WIDE OPEN EYES following the Bledsoe interception.
I just remember him HURTING other teams with these plays. What about when he stripped the ball following what appeared to be the playoff game-winning interception by San Diego? Seems the Chargers have never been quite the same since.
OK, now I'm stretching but ever wonder if the Pats/Packers SB would have been different if Troy Brown had played?
A: Reserve DE Brandon Mitchell blocked the Steelers kick.
Proof that good things also happen when defensive linemen touch the ball. And then Troy Brown. And then Antwan Harris.
It was the last game of the 96 season against the NY Giants. David Megget returned a kickoff that game, too. It was on forth down when Troy Brown caught the ball on his back. The Patriots went on to win the game I think 22-20 or 22-23 and end 11-5. I could be wrong, but I think that is what happened.
Hi Jeffrey G,
Can you share that presentation? I would love to see it..
