Wednesday plan

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff June 10, 2009 08:50 AM

The Patriots' three-day mandatory minicamp starts today, and here is the media-based schedule:

  • 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. -- Practice
  • 12:30 p.m. -- Media interviews

The three-day minicamp comes after the Patriots had 12 organized team activities over the last few weeks.

Receiver Joey Galloway, now in his 15th NFL season, said the way the team structured its offseason is unique.

"It's a little different here, with the three straight weeks of OTAs, I've never done that before," said Galloway, who has played for Seattle (1995-99), Dallas (2000-2003) and Tampa Bay (2004-2008).

The plan from here will be to post the on-field attendance and some observations after practice. The Patriots no longer allow media to disseminate reports on practices during their access time at practice.

    1. patsfan401,
You are crazy if you think he's going to be the next Rodeny... Lets just hope he's a good player first.

    1. You dont know what he is gonna be, yet. There is never going to be another Rodney and I know that. However, the guy covers well and plays the run better. So, he has skillset to play Rodney's role better than you may think. Dont be a hater

    1. Patsfan,

No one is being a hater. I believe what #9 is saying is let's see him be a good role player, and perhaps starter first before making any comparisons to Rodney. I'm very excited to see the potenital of Chung, and especially Butler, who Mike is pointing out in his blog is looking for good (even if it is only OTAs). I'm also excited in general for the Pats secondary this year. Looks like a good mix of talent, youth, and experince.

    1. I'd be happy with the next Polamalu, but without that Pittsburgh stain on his soul.

    1. patsfan401--what about Merriweather? He says he is modeling himself after Samuel and Harrison--what could be better than that???

    1. Patsfan401,
Because I'm sure you have spent hours watching game tape of the player. You know it all.. I was not being a hater, but just saying lower the bar.
PS, All the scouts say he does not cover well at all, but carry on.

    1. Mike, Why the new ban on real time reporting from practice, more Pats media lock down?
