Brady & Moss day

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff July 31, 2009 09:10 AM

FOXBOROUGH -- The Patriots are scheduled to hold two training camp practices today (9:30 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.) at Gillette Stadium.

In between, quarterback Tom Brady and receiver Randy Moss are expected to answer questions from reporters.

If you were holding a microphone, what would you ask them? At this point, what would you want to know about their mindset in training camp?

I'll try to check the comments section before the interviews, and will report back on the blog after the interviews.

(Update: According to the Patriots' official Twitter feed, Moss is unlikely to speak to the media today as he is once again absent from the morning practice. Brady is present and expected to hold his Q&A with reporters.)

  1. I would ask them if they have any specific goals between the two of them for the season (yards per game, touchdowns for the season, etc).

  1. For Brady: He sustained a major injury, much like McNabb and Palmer. Does he think that he will have an off year this year or will a good running game help him get back to being comfortable in the pocket? Also, is the brace necessary, or is it a security blanket?

For Moss: With Brady possibly starting off the year slow, will he get frustrated if that happens?

  1. Ask them how the downturn in the economy has affected their spending habits.

  1. Coach Bill claims he's become a lot friendlier during practices. Do you think that's true? Any guesses as to why that is?

Do you have any personal goals for the season?

Did you do anything special this off-season to prepare for the coming season that you haven't tried in the past? (And for Tom:) Aside from getting married, I mean.

Has it been difficult to re-establish the QB-WR connection you guys developed over the course of the 2007 season? Have you both been putting in extra time aside from official practices to work together to get on the same page?

(For Randy) With all the new faces on this team, are you still the fastest guy on the team?

  1. Ask them if there will be a expansion in the amount of plays the two of them can execute together now that they have had more time to work together compared to the 07 season. for example the flea flicker play against miami in 07 that resulted in a jabar gaffney touchdown.

  1. For Brady- Does he feel like the best course of action for him is to play as much as possible in preseason or spend as much time off the field prior to the regular season?

For Moss- Has he gotten used to the attention and expectations of being a Patriot compared to some of his previous stops in his career?

  1. Ask Randy Moss where he stores his expensive flower pots. Maybe that could be a teachable experience for Brady.

  1. Ask Brady about the possibility of working alongside Michael Vick

  1. Obviously the most important aspect of a passing game is timing. A year of not working together must have put some rust on that, do you feel the minicamps and individual work have put you back on the same page? Are the unspoken checkdowns there as they were at the end of 2007 yet? Were there things learned from last year by watching what worked and didn't work with Matt Cassel as a QB since he would naturally favor some passes and routes more or less than Tom? Anything specifically?

  1. For Moss: What is the best part about having Brady back throwing the ball around? Does he expect this years training camp to be harder than the previous camps?

For Brady: What is his favorite part about training camp and is he still going along with the no complaining?

  1. Brady - Aside from rehabbing from injury what one aspect of his game has he spent the most time on improving in the off season?

Moss - Does he feel like some other parts of his game, intelligence and downfield blocking, have been overlooked?

  1. Has Tom ever razzed Randy for dropping Bradys final pass from last season?

  1. Ask Moss if he'll grab #84 if I'm cut.

  1. Ask them if anyone misses me?

  1. Two part question:
    1) What are you doing to get the timing back that might have been lost last season?
    2) What can you do to free up Randy more often down field?

  1. For either:

You guys work against the Pats secondary in practice, has anyone or anything stood out so far? What makes you think this unit will be improved from last year? What do you think of the young guys?

Numbnuts. He didn't drop the pass. He caught it and then fumbled. Did you even watch the game? Geez

  1. Tom-Do you think their will be any problem with getting back used to throwing that deep ball to Moss. OR Do you think their will be any problem with getting yourself back into the flow of the offense?

I would think long and hard about what to ask Moss since last year he only allowed 3 questions in training camp.
