On Monday, the Patriots announced the signing of rookie safety Patrick Chung to an undisclosed contract. While some details of the contract have yet to be learned, it is a four-year deal, as expected.
Four years is the maximum length of contract that a second-round draft choice can sign.
Chung will earn base salaries of $310,000 in 2009, $480,000 in 2010, $510,000 in 2011 and $600,000 in 2012, according to NFL Players Association figures.
The Patriots have signed 10 of their 12 draft choices, with linebacker Tyrone McKenzie (third round) and long snapper Jake Ingram (sixth round) yet to come to terms. All 10 draft choices signed four-year deals.
