Light is King for a day

Posted by Christopher L. Gasper, Globe Staff July 7, 2009 02:49 PM

Patriots left tackle Matt Light is among the guest writers filling in for Sports Illustrated NFL writer Peter King during King's four-week vacation.

King writes the popular "Monday Morning Quarterback" column on SI.com. Light was the guest writer for this week's Tuesday edition of "MMQB."

Light, the Patriots' NFL players association representative, used the forum to talk about the off-the-field player development programs that the NFL and NFLPA offer. He also offered his support for the disciplinary action that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has taken against wayward players and expressed his opinion on training camp.

Light did not have much to say about the Patriots, but did offer a few thoughts.

I think, as always, I'm excited for the start of the 2009 season. With all the Patriots' moves in the offseason, we'll definitely have a new look and way of doing things -- but I'm confident we have what it takes to be a good football team. Fortunately, from what I've heard, we will have plenty of full-speed reps in training camp to get ready!

  1. Wait, Peter King is on vacation?! Oh crap! Man these substitute writers better be good to make sure there's no dropoff and... oh wait Peter King is terrible.

  1. Chris, could you compare and contrast how left tackles played in the season following a guest appearance on TMQB? Thanks.
