Belichick-Reid connection
Andy Reid (11th year, Eagles) and Bill Belichick (10th year, Patriots) are the second and third longest tenured head coaches with the same team, behind only Jeff Fisher (15th year, Titans, not counting interim season).
Their connection also has another side to it.
In this Eagles-based piece by ESPN's Chris Mortensen, Reid talks about why he enjoys facing the Patriots in the preseason.
"Bill Belichick and I are good friends and we like to get after each other, even in preseason, whether it's ones vs. ones, twos vs. twos or threes vs. threes. I think I'm one up on Bill in the preseason series. Unfortunately, he's got three [Super Bowl] trophies on me."
I knew that Reid and Belichick had great respect for each other, but didn't remember that they were good friends.

isn't it "standard" for coaches to always say "i have great respect for XYZ" just to be respectful? I guess saying they are friends might mean a little more though...
To Alex.
Yes. Except for Rex Ryan, he decided to talk trash. But I don't expect to see him as a head coach beyond a year or two.
Mike - I would love to know your thinking on why you felt the need to write that last line? Who cares?
Hi Franchise. I just thought it was interesting. People often say Belichick doesn't have many friends in the coaching fraternity. I didn't realize he was that close with Reid.

Franchise. Would you like Mike to censor that last line or something? Why?
It provided context, you may not appreciate it, but many of us do.
If you want to be a sports editor, go to school.
"Franchise", don't forget this is a blog, not an op ed site. If anything, Mike probably adheres to journalistic formalism TOO much on here. IMO.
Don't anybody TALK to me.
I'm just...TOO UPSET.
That last LINE, Mike...WHY??
WHY???
THAT LAST LINE WILL HAUNT MY DREAMS FOREVER
HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME MIKE
