FOXBOROUGH -- Bill Belichick's motivational ways aren't restricted to just the regular season. He's been prodding the Patriots this week prior to the team's first preseason game against the Eagles on Thursday night.

According to quarterback Tom Brady, the team was shown footage of last year's preseason game against the Eagles. Belichick specifically went over the first half, when the Patriots dug themselves a 24-3 hole.
That Patriots-Eagles game was the third preseason contest in 2008. The Patriots ended up losing 27-17.
"He always finds ways to motivate us," Brady said. "That was enough motivation for all of us."
This ties into the overall theme of training camp to this point. The Patriots have entered preseason with a clear purpose and heavier workload than usual.
While some teams hold back in preseason games, it doesn't seem as if the Patriots plan to do so.
