Keeping it Light with Brady's birthday

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 3, 2009 01:22 PM

FOXBOROUGH -- Left tackle Matt Light is responsible for a most important assignment -- protecting Tom Brady's blindside.

At the same time, Light hasn't been shy in delivering some playful zingers to the quarterback when the opportunity presented itself. Today, Brady's 32nd birthday, was one of those days.

“He’s kind of too old to hang out with now at this point,” cracked Light, one of the comedians in the team's locker room, after this morning's practice. “We’ve sung Happy Birthday to him a number of times over the years and you could see it in his eyes this time, he couldn’t really light up light he used to. He’s getting old.”

Light then joked he thought about getting Brady some denture cream, or Rogaine.

In the end, he decided on a simple fist-bump.

  1. I'm glad Matt Light is such a locker room comedian and has such fun ragging on Tommy and singing and carrying on because he's atrocious at left guard and will have the entertainment business to fall back on as soon as the Pats can get a serviceable body on that side of the line.

  1. Matt Light is terrible at a position he doesn't play?

Epic fail! Clearly you don't know enough about the pats or football for us to take your criticism seriously.
