Patriots scheduled to host Kevin Carter Tuesday

Posted by Mike Reiss, Globe Staff August 3, 2009 09:45 PM

Earlier today, Alex Marvez of Foxsports.com reported that the Patriots are interested in free-agent defensive end Kevin Carter.

The Boston Globe has confirmed that interest, and has learned that Carter is scheduled to visit with the club on Tuesday.

Carter has one of the more remarkable statistics for a defensive lineman -- he has never missed a game over his 14-year career.

Carter's scheduled visit does not mean that a contract is imminent, but it is a sign that both sides have enough interest to explore the possibility.

  1. Seymour's hurt again? Waste of cap

  1. Don't know about Seymour being hurt. This could be simply BB performing due diligence and assembling his "speed-dial squad" for the season. Also, given the paucity of available and appropriate OLBs, it could be that BB is adapting by building a 4-3 squad since there seem to be somewhat more good DEs available. I keep wondering when Vonnie Holliday's name will pop up.

  1. Mike,

The Raiders Blog is saying that the Raiders are looking to trade Derrick Burgess. Can you look into?

  1. @ sean in taunton --

When everybody else zigs, Belichick zags. He's like the Road Runner and the rest of the league is Wile E. Coyote. Maybe his nickname should be, "Beep-Beep!"

  1. Never missed a game in 14 years? Wow. Just wow. Even though I'm sure the guy won't bring anything special to the line he'll be like duct tape in an emergency. I'm just really impressed by that statistic.
