The Patriots announced today that they had come to terms with third-round pick Tyrone McKenzie, who suffered a season-ending torn ACL in his right knee during the team's rookie mini-camp in May.
According to a league source, McKenzie got a four-year deal worth $3.124 million and a $631,000 signing bonus.
Beyond the basic numbers, I'm hearing that there could be some unique and creative aspects to the deal that would allow McKenzie to recoup some of the money that the injury may have cost him.
The 6-foot, 2-inch, 243-pound McKenzie was the second of the Patriots' two third-round picks, taken No. 97 overall. He is the last of the Patriots' 12 draft picks to come to terms on a deal.
