FOXBOROUGH -- Today marks the seventh day since the Patriots opened training camp, and they are scheduled for two practices (9:30 a.m. & 3:45 p.m.).
These sessions will be the 13th and 14th of camp. To this point, the breakdown of practices has been:
I think Bill Belichick's decision to go heavy on the pads is geared toward building a fundamental base, and transitioning the players from offseason work to contact work. I don't remember this many full-pads practices out of the gate last year.
At this point, the Patriots are scheduled for double-sessions on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. No schedule has been released for the weekend.
My feeling is that Saturday could be the players' first day off. When the Patriots officially announce the schedule for the weekend, I will pass it along.
The plan is to start today with a little different approach, as shortly we'll post a "rookie" video in which a quick-hit thought is shared on each Patriots draft pick and how he might help the team this year.
