FOXBOROUGH – Patriots offensive linemen Logan Mankins and Rich Ohrnberger were carted off the field during today’s practice because of what appeared to be heat-related issues.
Both players seemed to be OK. Mankins waved to members of the crowd who clapped as he left the field on the cart.
(updated 9:45 p.m.) Joe Linta, Ohrnberger's agent, said: "They took him off the field for precautionary reasons due to the heat. He was given several bags of IVs and he responded favorably to that. The Patriots were very proactive and we appreciate that in this type of situation. He should be fine, if not tomorrow, then the next day."
Players wore full pads for the practice, which was the team’s first since Thursday’s preseason opener.
“That was a tough day,” said offensive lineman Matt Light.
Added tight end Chris Baker: “I felt it this morning when I woke up and it was 80 degrees. I was like ‘This is going to be a hot one today.’ You just have to hydrate as much as possible, because it’s hot and humid out here, big-time today.”
