The Patriots have put a healthy emphasis on kickoff returns during training camp with a handful of players all in the mix to replace the departed Ellis Hobbs as the team's primary return man. Among those that have auditioned this summer: Julian Edelman, Wes Welker, Terrence Wheatley, Kevin Faulk, Matthew Slater, Terrence Nunn, and Laurence Maroney.
Asked about fillings Hobbs' void, Maroney playfully jabbed: "Who, Ellis? Man, I was back there when Ellis was here. You know I'm just a player. Wherever coach says he needs me, I'll be there."
