Richard informed of release
Rookie defensive lineman Darryl Richard has been informed of his release today, according to a league source. Richard, one of the team's seventh-round draft choices, is a candidate to return on the practice squad if he clears waivers.
The Patriots are deep along the defensive line and Richard, who had the highest Wonderlic score of any New England draft choice, faced an uphill battle for a roster spot. He was lining up at end in the 3-4 alignment.
Teams don't have to finalize their moves until 6 p.m., so there is always the possibility of a late change.

MIke,
How about giving us a status when you note the release (e.g., pats have x more players to cut before 6:00 PM.)
Also curious if you think any of these are out of the blue... I though Nunn did enough to make the team.
Love to know also what veteran QBs are being cut across the league who might be an interesting options for the Pats.
I liked Richard. Though our DL is already stacked it would have been hard to make the team.
Hopefully he clears waivers and gets placed on PS.
If Nunn and Richard make it to the P/S, they'll be available to bring back if "someone" underperforms or gets injured.
5 Down, 8 still to come! Slater to IR leave 7!
Who are they going be?
It is truly a shame Richard didn't crack the final 53, although I have heard the cuts don't have to be finalized until 6pm, and there is always the possiblity of a late change.
Wade, these are not out of the blue. If you look at Mike's projection for the final roster, he's pretty much nailed it so far. Of course, we still have not seen the final cuts.
