  1. I have made this move in Madden before, most recently this morning, but it's weird to see in the real papers. It's Jarvis' time.

  1. what!!!!!! They better get good value

  1. Good move. We have depth on the defensive line. He's on his last year with us, so get something for him and prevent Kansas City or Denver from probably getting him in free agency.

  1. I guess that means they want Wilfork to stay. Pats better get major draft picks for this move!!!!

  1. I like Seymour. He gave us much of the best part of his career. Maybe he didn't give us his all, maybe he did. But I thank him for his efforts.

But trading him for good value is the right thing to do. If we keep him, he is gone after 2009 anyway.

I had been dreaming about getting a #1 for him before the season started. Right now a #2 in 2010 would make me happy. If we get less than that, we better be able to do something good with the extra $3.3M+ in cap space.

(Like extending Wilfork, who must remain on the team even if we have to Franchise him and accept a hold out).

  1. wow. please be for asomugha.

  1. Wow. Wow.

We'd better get someone good in return and not just some draft picks. If this does happen, though, it's gonna be a huge bummer for Seymour. From first to worst in the blink of an eye...

  1. Good move. He hasn't been the same since that year he missed the first six games. I hope they snake a high draft pick for him

  1. what?

  1. I wouldn't use the word "just," precisely **because** he only has one year left on his contract, so the Raiders are essentially "renting" a player for a year. If they want to keep him, they're going to have to pay him next year.

  1. Who becomes the starter after this Mike, Green or Brace?

  1. Seymour hasn't been the same in 4 years this is a great trade getting a #1 pick even if it is 2011 and allows them to sign Vince now....

  1. Oh stop the whining Remember our beloved safety to Buffalo ...Kind of rings the same, No?

  1. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The foundation the Pats defense is gone...Vrabel, Harrison, Brushci and now Seymour. He was ur only good pass rusher. Right now, there is not going to be season in 2011, unless they come up with agreement before next season....I am a HUGE Seymour fan and just can't believe they let there pass rusher go.....Good news for Wilfork..

  1. The Raiders are cleaning our clocks sending us Burgess who has done nothing and then sending us a first round pick (in 2011 no less) for Seymour. We're thin at linebacker and now we are thinning our D-Line. What is going on here? They better extend Wilfork or this deal is a colossal failure. Does this mean they re-sign Steven Williams or Darryl Richard? Or is this the prelude to another big deal with another team?? I'm just totally confused by their moves.

  1. The next big trade about to break is BB trading himself to the Detroit Lions.

  1. Future picks does not help them this year. This dimishes the team this year.
Please don't tell me trading Brady for 2 #1s coming.

  1. It really makes you wonder about the mind of a mad man. Belichick's genius is too vast for us of normal intelligence to comprehend.

We just lost arguably our best DL man, so I guess we aren't running a 4-3 this year.
We don't have a second OLB, so I guess we are not running a 3-4, either.

I will never understand the mind of Bill Belichick.

  1. brilliant move. we have wilfork and mankins and many other critical and younger FA's coming up. Seymour would be looking for a lifetime achievement contract which BB does not give out or get nailed with another franchise tag, and then we get NOTING for him when he is released or retired or we pay north of $10M a year for an aging and oft injured player.

The pick in '11 makes sense because the pay scale is going down for #1 picks - it is ALL about the money in the NFL. The Pats want to be 12-4 every year, and not 14-2 3 times every 12 years and 6-10 and 9-7 the rest of the time.

    Brilliant.
