Vijay Singh, Jim Furyk, and Billy Andrade were tied for the lead yesterday after two rounds of the Buick Open in Grand Blanc, Mich.
Singh, the first-round leader, had a 70 and was at 11 under with Furyk, the defending champion who had a 67, and Andrade, who had a 65.
John Daly matched his best round of the year with a 64 and was tied with three others one stroke behind the leaders. Tiger Woods had a 4-under 68 and was among four others another shot back at Warwick Hills.
LPGA/European: Karen Stupples had a 2-under 70 and held a three-shot lead after the second round of the Women's British Open. Beth Daniel (69), Jeong Jang (68), and Seol-An Jeon (69) shared second at 6-under 138 at Sunningdale's Old Course.
Defending champion Annika Sorenstam moved within two strokes of the lead with three early birdies, but faltered late and had a 1-under 71 that left her tied for fifth at 5-under 139.
European: Luke Donald shot a course-record 7-under 65 and took a one-shot lead after two rounds of the Scandinavian Masters at Barseback Golf and Country Club in Loddekopinge, Sweden. Donald, who eclipsed the previous record of 66 posted by Carl Pettersson, was at 10-under 134.
Champions: The second round of the US Senior Open was postponed because of unplayable conditions and the USGA plans to complete the championship with 36 holes tomorrow.
About 3 inches of rain fell on Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis, leaving the course swamped. Peter Jacobsen was the first-round leader with a 6-under 65.![]()
