Jay Williamson would like to get back to playing on the PGA Tour full time. He's one day away.
Playing on a sponsor's exemption at the Travelers Championship, Williamson shot a third-round 3-under-par 67 yesterday for a one-stroke lead over Hunter Mahan in Cromwell, Conn. If Williamson can hang on, he'll get back his Tour card and be the first player to win PGA and Nationwide events in the same year since Jason Gore in 2005.
"My mind-set all week has been I'm just really happy to be here," said Williamson, 40, who attended nearby Trinity College. "It's great not being on the other tour right now. If I can get within nine holes left with a chance, who knows what can happen?"
Williamson ranks seventh on the Nationwide money list with $153,249. But he'd take home $1 million with a win today.
LPGA -- Lorena Ochoa shot a 5-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead over rookie In-Kyung Kim, 19, after three rounds of the Wegmans LPGA in Pittsford, N.Y.

The 20-year-old junior defeated Australia's Tim Stewart, 2 and 1, at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. Weaver earned an invitation to the British Open next month and to next year's Masters.
Northeast Amateur -- Dustin Johnson, who started by shooting 5-under 64 Wednesday, finished as the only player under par to win the 46th annual edition at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, R.I. Johnson, an All-American at Coastal Carolina, shot 1-over 70 to finish at 1-under 275 and beat Drew Kittleson and Chris Kirk by two strokes.
