Duxbury native Peter Teravainen posted a closing 69 to push into a tie for 16th at the Wales Senior Open on the European Seniors Tour.

Frank Vana Jr. of Marlborough CC closed with a 69 to finish at 140 and edge
Jim Ruschioni by two shots to win the Amateur Invitational at New England CC in Bellingham.
Ryan Riley of Norton CC (69-75) and
Matt Parziale of Thorny Lea GC in Brockton (72-72) tied for third at 144.
Jon Curran of Hopkinton shot a final-round 75--281 to fall into a tie for 18th at the annual Dogwood Invitational in Atlanta.
Robert Linn of Berkshire Hills fired consecutive 71s at Wachusett CC to finish at 2 under and win the 36-hole Worcester County Amateur championship. Matt Dunn of Wachusett (67-76) was second.
Mark Dwyer shot 3-over 74 to win a Boston Amateur Golf Society tournament at New England CC in Bellingham. In a tournament at Norton CC, Leigh MacKay of Greensboro, Ga., shot 75 to record a four-stroke victory.
Women
Futures star
Briana Vega of Andover shot 75-68-72--215 for her best finish of the season on the Futures Tour, a tie for 12th, at a tournament in Saint Anne, Ill.
Liz Janangelo of West Hartford, Conn., shot 221 to finish tied for 38th and remain fourth on the money list.
Seniors
MGA makes move
The Massachusetts Golf Association announced a change of venue for the State Senior Championship, scheduled for Oct. 1-2. It will be held at the Golf Club of Cape Cod in Falmouth. The move was necessitated by a course-improvement project at The Vineyard Club on Martha's Vineyard.
Juniors
Day to remember
Antonio Grillo of Vineyard Haven displayed the shot-making prowess that earned him last year's State Junior Championship when he posted a brilliant 9-under 133 to roll to medalist honors in a US Junior Amateur qualifier at Ledgemont CC. Grillo's day started with a 6-under 65 and continued strong with an afternoon 68.
Taylor Fontaine of Southbridge shot 136 to grab the other spot into the national championship, scheduled for July 23-28 at Boone Valley GC in Augusta, Mo.
Craig Kublin of Needham and Tracy Martin of Tyngsboro can make plans for a golf trip to Westfield Center, Ohio, for the PGA of America's Westfield Junior Championship. Kublin shot 71-73--144, Martin 71-78--149 to take low honors in the New England sectional qualifier at Brookline Golf Club. The national tournament will be held July 11-14. Cole Childs (77-73--150) won the boys' 13-15 sectional championship.
In a qualifier for the annual Optimist International, Kyle Sargis of Lexington shot 71 to take medalist honors at Rehoboth CC. Among those who shot 74 to also advance to the national tournament were Brad Cadigan of South Weymouth, James Burton of Boston, Ryan Brunelle of Sterling, and Nick Clarke of Plymouth.
Jedi Glass of Sudbury shot 4-over 74 to win an NEPGA Titleist Junior Tour tournament at the Gannon GC in Lynn. Jonathan Baldwin of Malden also had a 74 to win the 14-15 age division, while Nicholas Pandelena of Atkinson, N.H., won the 12-13 division with a 78. At Billerica CC, Brett McCurdy of Framingham shot 70 to prevail by two shots. Alan McCormack of Sandown, N.H., shot 77 to record a four-stroke victory in the 14-15 division, Anna Stepper of Billerica won the girls' 14-18 with a 77, and Stephen Murphy of Billerica took the boys' 12-13 division with an 82.

Clive Fazioli, the voice of those popular local team golf matches on television, but take note that he already gave himself a present -- the sixth hole-in-one of his career. He used a 5-iron at the 155-yard 17th hole at the Renaissance Golf Club in Haverhill.
Kevin Sullivan was awarded the Ken Venturi Coach of the Year Award during the 30th annual Guiding Eyes for the Blind Golf Classic at the Whippoorwill Club in Armonk, N.Y. Sullivan helps guide blind golfer Bill McMahon of Framingham.
