Norway's Suzann Pettersen birdied the final two holes in windy and cool conditions yesterday for a 3-under-par 69 and a share of the first-round lead in the LPGA Tour's Hana Bank KOLON Championship in Gyeongju, South Korea.
Seeking her fourth LPGA Tour victory and fifth overall title of the year, Pettersen had five birdies in a bogey-free back nine after making the turn in 2 over. South Korea's Meena Lee also shot a 69.
Scotland's Catriona Matthew was two strokes back at 71 along with South Koreans Jeong Jang, Hyun Hee Moon, and Joo Mi Kim. Top-ranked Lorena Ochoa topped a group at 72.
PGA - Former US Amateur champion Ryan Moore matched his career low round with a 7-under 63 in Scottsdale, Ariz., to take a three-stroke lead halfway through the Fry's Electronics Open at Grayhawk Golf Club.
Mark Hensby shot a career-best 61 to join Ben Crane (66) and Daisuke Maruyama (65) at 8 under.
