Estes, Armour top waterlogged Ginn field
Bob Estes and Tommy Armour III shot 5-under-par 68s to share the lead in yesterday's suspended second round of the rain-soaked Ginn sur Mer Classic in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
Estes and Armour opened with identical 64s Thursday, leaving them at 14 under. Daniel Chopra was another stroke back after a 66 at Tesoro Club.
The course was soggy Thursday and even wetter yesterday, thanks to intermittent rain overnight.
Players were allowed to lift, clean, and place their balls in the fairway - and still had trouble finding dryish spots.
Play was delayed an hour at the start by rain and the round was suspended at 5:39 p.m. after another squall moved into the area. None of the players with afternoon starting times finished, meaning 64 will complete the round this morning.
More rain is expected today.
LPGA - Suzann Pettersen holed a 115-yard wedge shot for eagle on the par-4 13th and birdied the 18th to maintain a two-stroke lead in the Honda LPGA Thailand at Pattaya, her fourth straight Tour round atop the leaderboard.
Chasing her third victory in four weeks, Pettersen shot a 4-under 68 for an 11-under 133 total after two warm days at Siam Country Club. She has four Tour victories this year, also won in Norway, and has held at least a share of the lead in seven of her last 10 Tour rounds.
Canadian Alena Sharp, winless in two full seasons on the Tour, matched Pettersen's 68 to hold the second spot. Laura Davies was third, four strokes back at 7 under.
Champions - Eduardo Romero took the second-round lead in the season-ending
Romero has a 12-under 132 total on the Sonoma GC course.
European - Robert-Jan Derksen and Jean-Francois shot 5-under 65s to share the lead in the Mallorca Classic in Son Servera, with 54 players unable to complete the second round because of darkness.
Derksen and Lucquin were at 9-under 131 on the Pula Golf Club course.
Boo Weekley, 22d in the world rankings, and Heath Slocum said they'll represent the United States at the World Cup, a two-man team event Nov. 22-25 at Mission Hills Golf Club in China. Players were asked to play for the US based on world rankings, starting with No. 1 Tiger Woods and moving down the list until someone accepted.
