Of note: Lorena Ochoa has won the last two major championships, the Women's British Open at St. Andrews last August and the Kraft Nabisco in early April. The top-ranked Mexican star has six victories in nine starts this year . . . Annika Sorenstam, retiring at the end of the season, swept the 2003-05 titles, winning at DuPont Country Club in Wilmington, Del., in 2003 and 2004 and Bulle Rock in 2005 . . . Last year: Woody Austin rallied to win his third PGA Tour title, closing with an 8-under 62 - the best final round of his career and the best in the event's history - for a five-stroke victory over Brian Davis.
Last week: Kenny Perry joined Tiger Woods as the only three-time Memorial winner, beating Jerry Kelly, Justin Rose, Mathew Goggin, and Mike Weir by two strokes. The 47-year-old Perry has 10 career PGA Tour victories.
Of note: The US Open is next week at Torrey Pines in San Diego . . . Last week: Australia's Scott Strange won the Celtic Manor Wales Open for his first European Tour title, closing with a 7-under 64 for a four-stroke victory.
Of note: In 2006, Markus Brier won the tournament for the third time to become the first Austrian champion in European Tour history. The event was part of the second-tier PGA European Challenge Tour when Brier won in 2002 and 2004 . . . The Saint-Omer Open is next week in France, opposite the US Open.
NATIONWIDE
