People
One's enough
A "breakfast ball" wasn't part of the equation during the recent Chairman's Tiger Tee Tournament at the International Golf Club in Bolton - a club event played over a Pines Course stretched to 8,325 yards. You read correctly: 8,325 yards.
Tim Bailey and his team started at the seventh hole, which is a mere 277-yard par 3. Bailey never saw his tee shot land. "You can barely see the flagstick," he said. "I immediately grabbed my wedge and my putter. One of the guys said, 'Aren't you going to look in the cup?' I laughed." If you think you know the punch line, you do. Bailey's ball was resting at the bottom of the hole, an ace of epic proportions.
Glenn Shermahorn used a pitching wedge to ace the 140-yard seventh hole at Mt. Pleasant GC in Lowell.
There's a New England connection to that British Amateur victory by Reinier Saxton of Holland. His grandfather is Dave Saxton of York, Maine, a former USGA rules official and onetime president of the Maine Golf Hall of Fame. Dave Saxton's son, John, is a club professional in the Amsterdam area.

Mark Andrews, vice president of franchise operations at Extra Innings. His father,
Mike, is chairman of the Jimmy Fund and was a member of the 1967 Impossible Dream Red Sox. Mike Andrews and a 1967 teammate,
