Stewart on top
Keith Stewart of Warwick CC shot 72 to win pro honors in a New England PGA pro-junior tournament at Brookline GC. John O'Connor of Far Corner GC finished one stroke back, while Richard Hasenfus of Needham GC shot 74 to take third. In the team division, Stephen Gonsalves of the Links at Lang Farm combined with Evan Russell, Jake Orr, and Dale Lee for a 62 and a three-stroke win.

With a share of 10th in last week's Gateway Summer Tour tournament at Jupiter CC in Florida, Pembroke native Justin Peters moved into fifth on the overall and summer money lists.

Women
In class of her own
Joan Morin of Walpole CC shot 90 to win the WGAM Class D championship at The Pinehills in Plymouth. Mary Howlett of Foxborough CC and Nancy Boyle of South Shore CC tied for second, two strokes back. In the Class E competition, Beatrice Mendes of Allendale won with a 91, with Brenda Moran of Braintree Municipal three strokes back.

Amateurs
Final chapter
For the second consecutive year a local woman made it to the final of the North & South Women's Amateur in Pinehurst No. 2. Chelsea Curtis of Mashpee, a sophomore at Georgetown University, saw her magical week come to an end when she lost the title match to Kristie Smith, 8 and 7. Curtis won the opening hole, but never had another lead against Smith, the reigning Australian women's amateur champion. Last year's champion, Alison Walshe of Westford, was ousted in the second round, as was Mary Chamberlain of South Dennis.

Brittany Altomare of Shrewsbury put together rounds of 71-69-71 -211 to finish joint fourth in the Betsy Rawls Girls' Championship in Malvern, Pa.

Juniors
Donahoe rock solid

Robbie Donahoe of Canton shot 72 to post a three-stroke win in an NEPGA Titleist Junior Tour tournament at Bedrock GC. Andrew Dame of Oakham shot 80 to win the 14-15 division; David Thompson of Shrewsbury (79) prevailed in the 12-13 division; and Katie Nelson (87) won the girls' 14-18 division. At a Titleist tourney at Presidents GC, there was a four-way tie at 74 among Jack Bandera of Pembroke, John Leteria of Hopkinton, Kevin Shea of Hanover, and Tyler Powers of Quincy. Jason Lussier of Holliston shot 75 to win the 14-15 division; Matthew Michaud of Hingham (80) won the 12-13 division; and Isabel Southard of Sharon (75) captured the girls' competition. At Groton CC, Joe Dargin shot 74 to take the 16-17 division; Damon Salo fired an impressive 3-under 67 to rule the 14-15 division; Jimmy Walmsley (76) took the 12-13; and Beau Collins (48) the 11-and-under. At Scottish Highlands in Salem, N.H., Tim LeBlanc shot 73 to win the 16-18 division; Jason Steele and Graham Small shot 72 to share low honors in the 14-15 division; and Connor Greenleaf (78) won the 12-13 division.

Randolph Ford of Boston is serving as assistant captain for Team USA at a junior golf tournament underway in China.

Miscellany
Putt for show
As part of the BJ's Charity Championship, a putting challenge will be conducted Tuesday from 4-6 p.m. in Boston at City Hall Plaza. For every person who putts against former LPGA Tour standout Jane Blalock, BJ's Charitable Foundation will donate $10 to the Greater Boston Food Bank. The tournament is Aug. 1-3 at Granite Links GC in Quincy. Tickets are $10, $25 for a three-day pass, and can be obtained by calling 617-721-3931 or via thelegendstour.com.

A demo day with Cleveland and TaylorMade equipment will be held today from 4-7 p.m. at McGolf Driving Range in Dedham.
