Of note: Tournament host Tiger Woods is coming off a sixth-place tie two weeks ago in the US Open. He tied for sixth in the 2007 event at Congressional, then missed the 2008 tournament following knee surgery . . . The 2010 and 2011 tournament will be played at Aronimink in Newtown Square, Pa., while the Blue Course is renovated for the 2011 US Open . . . Last year: Paula Creamer won the third of her four 2008 titles. She opened with a 60 and added rounds of 65, 70, and 73 for a two-stroke victory over Nicole Castrale.
Last week: Jiyai Shin won the Wegmans LPGA in Rochester, N.Y., for her second victory of the year and fifth in 11 months.

Of note: The US Women’s Open is next week at Saucon Valley in Bethlehem, Pa. . . . Se Ri Pak won the 2007 event for her fifth victory in the event, tying the tour record for wins in a tournament set by Mickey Wright (Sea Island Open) and matched twice by Annika Sorenstam (Mizuno Classic, Samsung World Championship). Pak also won in 1998, 1999, 2001, and 2003 . . . Pak, Shin, and Creamer top the field along with top-ranked Lorena Ochoa and Michelle Wie, coming off a 10th-place tie in Rochester . . .
