US Women's Open: Play called for the day
The second round of the US Women's Open has been postponed for the day, with lightning, thunder, and heavy rain still pounding the Greater Pittsburgh area. The second round will resume on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m., and if the weather cooperates, the third round (using groups of three, instead of the regularly scheduled two) will begin at approximately 2:30 p.m.
Sophie Gustafson, who birdied her first and only hole before the horn blew, is the only player at even par, and leads seven players by one shot. Of those seven, only two -- world No. 1 Cristie Kerr (71) and first-round leader Brittany Lang (74) -- completed their second round.
