Another day, another delay. First-round play at the 92d PGA Championship is now scheduled to resume this morning at 10:40 a.m. EDT. Fog has been covering the Whistling Straits course for a second straight day, and even when it clears, the weather radar shows heavy rain coming this way. Who knows how much golf we'll be able to get in today? It's starting to feel like last year's US Open at Bathpage Black.
Half the field -- 78 out of 156 -- was on the course when play was called last night due to darkness. The hope was to resume the first round today at 8 a.m. EDT, with the second round scheduled to start 90 minutes later, at 9:30.
Even if the weather cooperates today, only a portion of the field will be able to finish their second rounds. That means the 36-hole cut won't come until tomorrow.
The leaderboard, obviously, hasn't changed. There's still a five-way tie at 4 under. Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari completed their first rounds yesterday, while Ernie Els, Matt Kuchar, and Nick Watney still have holes left to play in their first round.
