Next negotiations: Friday in New York.
In the news: Ottawa’s Norris Trophy-winning defenseman, Erik Karlsson, is the latest NHL star to decide on Europe as a lockout destination. The 22-year-old Swedish-born player signed a month-to-month contract to play with Jokerit in Finland. Karlsson led NHL defensemen with 78 points (19 goals) in 81 games last season. He then cashed in this summer by signing a seven-year, $45.5 million contract extension with the Senators.
