Lindros out 2-4 weeks

Eric Lindros will be out 2-4 weeks after injuring his left shoulder in the New York Rangers' victory over the Florida Panthers Monday night. Lindros has a sprain in the area where the shoulder and collarbone meet the chest, the team said . . . Calgary Flames goaltender Roman Turek also will miss 2-4 weeks with a sprained medial collateral ligament in his right knee. He was injured in the opening minutes of a 2-0 loss to the Buffalo Sabres Saturday when he went down on his knees to stop a shot . . . Cleveland Cavaliers guard DaJuan Wagner has an inflamed liver and pancreas and cannot undergo surgery on his right knee until his condition improves. General manager Jim Paxson said Wagner's setback was caused by medication prescribed for the player's knee . . . Washington Wizards general manager Wes Unseld is recovering from knee surgery, but his return to the team is uncertain. The Hall of Fame center, who had both knees replaced Oct. 7, took a leave of absence for health reasons in July . . . Outfielder Chris Singleton was released by the Oakland Athletics when the team declined to exercise its $1.8 million option, instead buying him out for $200,000 . . . Heather Wilbur, who competed for four years on the LPGA's Futures Tour, died in Moncton, New Brunswick, of complications from leukemia. She was 27.

MLS Cup tickets ready
The Revolution announced that tickets are on sale for next month's MLS Cup playoffs. The Revolution will host at least one match at Gillette Stadium. New England will play the New York/New Jersey MetroStars at Foxborough in the conference semifinals either Sunday, Nov. 2, at 4 p.m. or Sunday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m. If the Revolution advance to the conference final and are the higher seed, that game will be in Foxborough Saturday, Nov. 15, at 4 p.m. Playoff tickets are available at $35, $25, and $20 by calling 1-877-GET-REVS . . . The Black Coaches Association will use a five-part system next year to evaluate hiring practices in Division 1-A football. "This will serve as a cornerstone for accountability," executive director

The race will be over 6 furlongs, with the winner receiving $8,000 of the $10,000 purse.
