Kubina scored on a backhander for the Lightning, 4-0 for the first time in franchise history.
Late third-period goals by Atlanta's Ilya Kovalchuk and Marc Savard forced overtime. The Thrashers (3-0-2-1) have earned a point in all six games this season.
Kovalchuk got the Thrashers within 2-1 with his sixth goal at 15:59. Savard tied it from the low slot with 1:22 left in regulation.
Cory Stillman scored two power-play goals for the Lightning. He also had a pair of power-play goals in a 5-1 win over the Bruins Oct. 10.
Stillman put the Lightning ahead, 1-0, on a rebound goal at 4:47 of the first. He scored from in-close after Martin St. Louis's shot hit the post.
Atlanta had allowed just one goal in 22 shorthanded situations before Stillman's goal.
The Thrashers outshot Tampa Bay, 12-1, during the first 13 minutes of the second period, but failed to score. Nikolai Khabibulin made two in-close saves on Shawn McEachern during a two-on-one.
Stillman's fourth goal of the season made it 2-0 with 4:03 left in the second.

Mayers gave the Blues a 4-3 lead with his first goal of the season 5:26 into the period, deflecting in Murray Baron's point shot after a weak clearing attempt by the Oilers.
Pavol Demitra got the Blues even just 15 seconds earlier, picking the far corner on Tommy Salo after curling around the circle. It was his second goal of the season.
Mighty Ducks 2, Sharks 0 -- Martin Gerber made 34 saves for his second career shutout as Anaheim finally got its first win, beating host San Jose. Kings 4, Flyers 0 -- Roman Cechmanek kept his former Philadelphia teammates in check with 22 saves, and defenseman Martin Strbak scored his first two NHL goals as host Los Angeles blanked the Flyers. The shutout was the 21st for Cechmanek, who was dealt to the Kings by the Flyers after another subpar performance in the playoffs. He is 3-2 in five starts with the Kings and has allowed 12 goals.
