Devils stretch streak to 11Patrik Elias scored two goals, including the game-winner 39 seconds into overtime last night, to stretch the New Jersey Devils' unbeaten streak to 11 games with a 2-1 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins at East Rutherford. The Penguins forced overtime when Dick Tarnstrom scored a power-play goal with 26.8 seconds left in regulation.
On Elias's second goal, he took a pass in his own end from Brian Rafalski and skated to the Penguins' zone. He used Pittsburgh defenseman Drake Berehowsky as a screen to beat goalie Marc-Andre Fleury, who kept the Penguins in the game throughout. Thrashers 6, Panthers 3 -- Shawn McEachern had two goals and Ilya Kovalchuk scored his NHL-leading 15th to lead Atlanta to its third straight victory by winning in Sunrise, Fla. The Thrashers scored twice on the power play and twice while skating shorthanded in the second period. Predators 4, Mighty Ducks 3 -- Scott Hartnell scored the 1,000th goal in Predators history at 1:31 of overtime to lift visiting Nashville. Sabres 5, Hurricanes 0 -- Mika Noronen made 35 saves for his third career shutout and J.P. Dumont had two goals and an assist to lead host Buffalo. Sharks 5, Coyotes 0 -- Marco Sturm and Mike Ricci scored on San Jose's first two power plays and the Sharks rolled to a win at Phoenix.
