Nolan gets his point across

Nolan scored two third-period goals to help the Maple Leafs rally for a 4-4 tie with the Florida Panthers last night in Sunrise, Fla.

Darcy Tucker and Nik Antropov also scored for Toronto, which had its franchise-record 16-game point streak snapped by the Islanders Saturday. The Maple Leafs are 14-1-2-1 in their last 18.

Nathan Horton, Viktor Kozlov, Pavel Trnka, and Juraj Kolnik scored for the Panthers, who extended their home unbeaten streak to six (3-0-3).

Toronto's Ed Belfour finished with 35 saves. Florida's Roberto Luongo stopped 34 shots.

Stars 2, Flyers 2 -- Pierre Turgeon scored a power-play goal with 16:42 left in regulation as host Dallas rallied from a two-goal deficit for a tie with Philadelphia. Turgeon's deflection of Richard Matvichuk's shot from the point beat goaltender Robert Esche to tie it, 2-2.

Sergei Zubov added a power-play goal in the second period and Marty Turco had 26 saves for the Stars, 6-1-2 in their last 10 games.

Mike Comrie scored his first goal for the Flyers, and Esche stopped 20 shots.

Hurricanes 2, Sabres 1 -- Ron Francis tied for fourth on the NHL's all-time points list with a goal as host Carolina beat Buffalo. Francis's goal gave him 1,771 points in his 23d season to tie Marcel Dionne on the all-time scoring list. The center chipped in a loose puck in traffic after a shot from Jeff O'Neill bounced high in the air in front of the Buffalo net.

Canucks 3, Avalanche 2 -- Mike Keane scored with 4:35 left, helping Dan Cloutier and visiting Vancouver beat Colorado. Cloutier had 34 saves for Northwest Division-leading Vancouver, which rallied from a 2-0 deficit.

Islanders 3, Devils 1 -- Mark Parrish scored two goals as the Islanders won their fifth straight overall, their seventh in a row at home, and their third in a row over the Stanley Cup champions.

Kenny Jonsson also scored for the Islanders, which got 28 saves from Garth Snow.

Wild 2, Flames 2 -- Richard Park scored on a penalty shot in the third period to lift Minnesota to a tie in Calgary. The penalty shot was awarded when Calgary defenseman Jordan Leopold gloved a loose puck and threw it out of the crease during a goal-mouth scramble. Park scored his seventh goal of the season at 2:45, beating Miikka Kiprusoff with a backhand shot.

Rangers 3, Coyotes 2 -- Tom Poti scored a minute into overtime, capping a late comeback, and New York kept Phoenix winless in its new arena in Glendale, Ariz. Bobby Holik and Mark Messier had the Rangers' other goals.

Canadiens 2, Thrashers 1 -- Jose Theodore made 26 saves, and Andrei Markov and Pierre Dagenais scored first-period goals as visiting Montreal edged Atlanta.

Sharks 5, Predators 2 -- Nils Ekman had two goals and an assist as San Jose dumped Nashville, extended its franchise-record home unbeaten streak to 11 games (7-0-4-0), and took over first place in the Pacific Division.

Mighty Ducks 2, Lightning 0 -- Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 31 saves, and Anaheim snapped a 13-game road winless streak by beating Tampa Bay.

Penguins 1, Blackhawks 0 -- In a dull game befitting two of the NHL's worst teams, Sebastien Caron stopped 31 shots for his first shutout in nearly a year, and Tomas Surovy scored in host Pittsburgh's victory over Chicago.

Blues 3, Blue Jackets 2 -- Ryan Johnson scored the winner with 3:44 left and Doug Weight added a goal and an assist to lead visiting St. Louis past Columbus.
