COLUMBUS, Ohio—The Columbus Blue Jackets have assigned forward Alexandre Giroux (gih-ROO') to their American Hockey League affiliate in Springfield, Mass.
General manager Scott Howson announced the move on Monday.
The 30-year-old Giroux has scored one goal and had eight penalty minutes in nine games since debuting with the Blue Jackets on Oct. 15.
Giroux has played 48 NHL games with Columbus, Edmonton, Washington and the New York Rangers over 10 years. He has recorded six goals, six assists and 26 penalty minutes during his pro career.
He has scored 30 or more goals in seven-straight American Hockey League seasons and has appeared in several AHL All-Star Games. He was named the AHL's Most Valuable Player in the 2008-09 season.
