Best 17-minute penalty
On March 2, Montreal’s Alexi Emelin broke his stick when he cross-checked Tyler Seguin in the rib cage. As Seguin hit the ice, Bruins captain Zdeno Chara wasted no time finding Emelin and pummeling him. Chara was given a two-minute penalty for instigating, a five-minute major for fighting and a 10-minute misconduct, but it was worth it for the message it sent to the opponent even though the Bruins lost the game.
After the game, Chara explained. "You have to protect each other and he's one of our better players," Chara said of Seguin. "I'll do it for anybody, but in that situation, it was just second nature for me to react that way."
