No, what Patrice Bergeron gave his teammates was more immeasurable, more intangible, more inspirational when he simply laced up his skates in the Bruins’ stunning 3-2 loss in Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Chicago Blackhawks Monday night at TD Garden.

It was, after all, only two nights before, in a gut-wrenching 3-1 loss in Game 5, that the Bruins’ alternate captain — universally regarded as the heart and soul of the Black and Gold — was spotted leaving the United Center in an ambulance.
