Bruins game gets early start

Today's Bruins-Rangers game has been moved ahead three hours to 4 p.m.

The Bruins, with the Rangers' approval, made the switch to allow fans the opportunity to attend or watch Game 6 of the American League Championship Series between the Red Sox and Indians, which begins at 8:23 p.m.

"We're in this together as a city," said Bruins coach Claude Julien. "I think it's good for both parties. Even good for us. We're going to play our game, then have the opportunity to watch them as well."

NESN will broadcast the Bruins game, with pregame coverage beginning at 3 p.m.

The network, which was originally scheduled to broadcast the Princeton at Harvard football game live at 12:30 p.m., will air the game on tape delay beginning at 8 p.m., one hour after the Globe's Red Sox pregame show.
