The Boston Bruins signed defenseman Mark Stuart, who played every game for the team last season, to a multiyear extension Tuesday. The Boston Globe's Fluto Shinzawa reported that the deal is for two years and $2.6 million.

Stuart, the Bruins' first-round draft pick in 2003, had career highs of 82 games, four goals, four assists and eight points. He also played in the team's seven postseason games against Montreal.

The Bruins also announced they had obtained defenseman Johnny Boychuk from Colorado for forward Matt Hendricks.

Boychuk played four games for the Avalanche in 2007-08 and 60 games with Lake Erie of the AHL where he had eight goals and 26 points.

Hendricks had 22 goals and 52 points for Providence of the AHL last season but did not play for Boston.
