Panthers, 1-0

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 20, 2006 07:44 PM

A power-play goal by Martin Gelinas has the Panthers leading after 20 minutes. Nice play by Chris Gratton to take the puck off the wall and find Stephen Weiss, who pulled Tim Thomas out of position and dished a pass to Gelinas at the right post.

* This is the first time the Bruins have trailed since their 6-4 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Nov. 9.

* Mark Mowers had two slick setups for Wayne Primeau, but the left wing couldn't cash in on either opportunity.

* Solid right-to-left save by Alex Auld with 46.2 seconds left in the period on P.J. Axelsson's scoring bid.

* Earlier in the period, Axelsson floated a saucer pass to Marc Savard for a partial breakaway. Savard was hooked on the play and shot it wide of the net.

* Savard has a team-leading 8:36 of ice time so far.
