Panthers, 2-0

Posted by Fluto Shinzawa, Globe Staff November 20, 2006 08:52 PM

An even-strength goal by Nathan Horton doubled Florida's lead in the second period. Moments before, Horton had rang a shot off the right post. But he settled his own rebound, dished to Olli Jokinen, and curled out to the slot to take a return pass.

* Tim Thomas was rattled early in the second period but appears to be fine. Joe Nieuwendyk, tripped up by Milan Jurcina, tumbled into Thomas, sending the goalie airborne. Thomas landed on the front of his mask and was down for several moments, drawing trainer Don DelNegro out onto the ice.

* Brad Stuart had DelNegro wrap his broken right pinkie with extra tape early in the second period.

* Alex Auld has been spot-on, denying Marc Savard's partial breakaway. He got caught out of his crease after a bad bounce off the end boards, but recovered to glove a Stuart flip on goal.

* Savard still leads the Bruins with 16:46 of ice time. Savard also has a game-high five shots.
